Sharon Osbourne is the worst but not the last kind of “Karen”

Sharon Osbourne and Co-host Sheryl Underwood

After the removal of Piers Morgan from television, Sharon Osbourne, wife of rock legend Ozzy Osbourne, may also get the boot.
The news came after Osbourne and her co-hosts from the CBS daytime talk show; THE TALK, ended up in a tense discussion on air about the Meghan Markle interview with Oprah Winfrey.

Osbourne is a friend of infamous loudmouthed bigot, and antagonist Piers Morgan.
During the tense discussion she came to near tears trying to defend herself and Morgan from the accusations of being a racist.

“I feel … like I’m about to be put in the electric chair because I have a friend who many people think is a racist, so that makes me a racist. And for me, at 68 years of age, to have to turn around and say, ‘I ain’t racist.’ … How can I be racist about anybody or anything in my life? How can I?” Osbourne said.

Strangest part of all this is that nobody called her racist at that moment. So Osbourne was pretty much just telling on herself there.

Afterwards, some of Osbourne’s former co-hosts complained about her behavior and made a note of the racist comments and toxic environment the show permitted.

Holly Robinson Peete said Osbourne had her fired back in 2011.

“(Sharon) complained I was too ‘ghetto’ for The Talk… then I was gone.” Pete said

Former co-host, Leah Remini also accused Osbourne of calling her “ghetto,” and making racial and gender slurs toward Julie Chen.
Frequently referring to her Chinese American co-host, as “wonton” and “slanty eyes.”

Needless to say, THE TALK is now on hiatus.

It was hard to watch Sharon Osbourne deflect her racism through tears and perpetual victim-hood.

Especially hearing her tell her Black co-host Sheryl Underwood not to cry and then put the labor of explaining racism on the same Black Woman.

People have explained the weaponizing of white women’s tears before.

We know that when a white woman cries foul and sheds a tear, immediately whoever the Black person in the vicinity is gets swooped down upon and can wind up lynched or shot.

History shows far too many painful examples of Black Men and Women who receive harm because of the weaponizing of white women’s tears.

However, this time it looks to have backfired on Osbourne.

The clip of Osbourne near crying on cue went viral and made many people online skewer her false victim act.

Sharon Osbourne’s “Apology”

Osbourne issued a hollow “apology.”

Celebs take not of how to apologize next time you mess up. Bless up to Franchesca Ramsey for always speaking facts

She also expressed that she felt somehow set up. But I am not sure how someone sets you up to be racist.
My last piece talked about how horrible white men always come back and this also applies to horrible white women.
We shouldn’t tolerate anyone who cannot do the work of understanding racism in 2021.
There are far too many accessible materials and resources for anyone to educate themselves.

So asking Black people to explain to you how racism at this stage is just lazy and a cop-out.

There are way too many people like Sharon Osbourne.
People who are never held to a higher standard, skirt authority, and make spaces far more toxic and stress-filled than they should be.
A person who always asks us to do the work of explaining their sins and tasking us with the emotional labor.

Is there redemption for this type of person?
I think there is but that takes a lot of accountability that I am not sure enough people are willing to employ.

It means owning how you may have hurt others, doing the work to educate yourself on racism, and actively working to be anti-racist.

Nah, that’s too much work.
It’s far easier to just ask Black People to explain it for you I suppose.
Just don’t ask me though.
